All the techniques are clearly explained and demonstrated, from analyzing the shape and structure of the flowers to mixing and blending rich, luminous colors, laying washes, creating textured effects and adding highlights. Flowers continue to be one of the most popular subjects among North Light readers, especially the beginner/intermediate reader. Each featured flower includes information about its distinguishing characteristics, detailed step-by-step instructions, a complete color palette, mini demonstrations showing special techniques, and a stunning full-color image of a finished painting.. Acrylic is the only medium that is gaining floor space in the art stores--perfect for readers looking to work with acrylic paints in a more traditional approach. Tecla Garcia said Paint Beautiful Flowers. Beautiful quality images of flowers for learning how to paint with oils/acrylics. Very good sequential instructions. This book helped improve my flowers markedly.. "Borrow don't buy" according to Brandon Henrie. Overall I found this a delightful picture book for an advanced student. I found it more informative regarding flower nomenclature than I did painting. I recommend Basic Flower Painting Techniques in Watercolor (Basic Techniques Series). I realize that watercolor and acrylic are different mediums, but the technical descriptions are far more effective, informative, and educational. Wish I would have borrowed this from a library rather than add it to my own.. "Painting" according to sassyorange. I have a flower garden and love to paint. Now I will be able to paint my flowers and be proud of my work. Easy to understand and follow. I am in Mn., so I have not been able to set up outside to paint yet. I am looking forward to it though. I have some beautiful Rock Star bearded iris's I want to paint. Purple and yellow in color. They are also huge. It will be a while before they bloom.
