Courageous, honest, and timely!!! Started reading this book thinking that there was no way it would apply to me and quickly found out how wrong I was. This book is excellent! It is a very engaging read, so it is not something you have to plow through. Honestly, I couldn't put it down but I know that this is one of the few books in a rather large collection that will get a re-read, and possibly another one after that!Jason and Jeremy have found a way to take the elephants that every pastor has hanging out in their room and bring them out in the open. I found myself comforted to find I was not alone in some of the thi. Resonates as from a pastor familiar with the trenches of ministry This is a very timely book in my life. I’m a youth minister with just barely over two years in full-time ministry. I needed this book. I’ve read some similar books about health in ministry (Dangerous Calling, What they Don’t Teach You in Seminary, Soul School, and a few others) and Toxic Soul deserves to be listed among the best.This is a very raw and down-to-earth book. It talks about the issues from a viewpoint of understanding and experience. It doesn’t offer trite solutions, but instead spends time unpacking the root of many of these issues and confronts . A Soul Cleansing Shout brock bruce 6 years ago when my wife and I began the journey to plant a church I remember thinking we'd have 500 people in five years. Here we are today averaging about the same number of youth we had on Wednesday nights when I was a youth pastor 6 years ago. Needless to say that's much less than 500. Is 500 still possible? Of course. But I no longer beat myself up for not running 500 after 5 years. It's helped me to stop using reasons for why we are where we are as excuses and has helped me recognize that comparing myself to other churches isn't where I find my worth. That kind of thinking act
