Very thorough instructions, improved with spiral addition. Thorough book. I had spiral binding put on it at Staples ($5-6). Big improvement.. "Love it!!!" according to Claudia Smith. The book presents 3 different methods to alter a pattern: pivot, slash, and seam. Although the book demonstrates all three alteration methods on every possible change you might want to make to a pattern, you can tell that the authors actually prefer the seam method. I see why, it is so easy to get patterns that fit by using this method. I followed the author's tip about backing the pattern with cheap fusible interfacing, marked my seam lines, cut them as described/pictured, repositioned, and viola, the alteration is done. (I did use the Palmer-Plet. different methods to alter a pattern: pivot, slash, and seam. Although the book demonstrates all three alteration methods on every possible change you might want to make to a pattern, you can tell that the authors actually prefer the seam method.
