"Three cheers (and five stars) for this Kipling book" according to Lifelong reader. What a pleasure to re-read Mowgli's adventures with friends and foes. Fie on those who remarked here they found the illustrations too graphic. I believe they are age appropriate for the seven-year-old who will receive this book on his birthday. I read it first to see if I thought there were any problems with the text or pictures. There are not, and I expect this edition to join other books from the Sterling I. grammyk said A sampling of jungle book stories. I have never read The Jungle Book, only seen Disney's adaptation of it so I thought it would be fun to actually read the book before seeing the newest version of it on the movie screen. I was slightly disappointed that Mowgli's story ended so abruptly "But he was not always alone, because, years afterward, he became a man and married." What? The author keeps the stories moving even though he has to inject sil. Sebastian said What a great story! I just saw the movie and the book has so much more detail. This is a wonderful all time story which had been wonderful to learn once again soon after being raised with happy memories of the story and movie. I really like the numerous heroes and the descriptive details of the interactions and also of the forest establishing the phase of the more immersive experience.
