Very surprised WJR I downloaded this book with Amazon unlimited thinking I would read it one of many flights. For some reason I didn't open it for a few weeks until yesterday. I spent Sunday reading and enjoying the book and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the book. The book follows the often seen (young hero, unique history, unique power, denial, acceptance, success) formula but is unique. The young hero is smarter than most, makes human . That would be more like the magic passed down in certain, closely-guarded bloodlines among the ruling class of the coastal cities. Vatar risked his life to try to save his friend - and failed. Unlike their own, Vatar's people think the city magic is evil. And that's bad. She'd better be
