I think it was not the best idea to feature so much bad art that was done before Brad Bird came to the project. I also felt like they should have included more of the beautiful background paintings that were done for the film. Also, the color script pages were dark and unclear.I'm a little disappointed.. Ugh Eric S. Bort I was looking forward to this book for a while - I've loved the artistic direction, color and style choices and have used them as references for years. What could be better than a book filled with storyboards, character sheets, colors, environments, etc - all from the movie? Well that's not quite what this ended up being. The book reads as here's a bunch of comp art that we sorta thought was ok, well maybe it sucked - but then this new guy came around and changed the art direction - so now we'll compare what sucked to what doesn't suck - and on and onI would have been thrilled with seeing the . "Awesome to see how much research they did for this" according to Amazon Customer. Awesome to see how much research they did for this movie, and how clearly they kept the style in the time period. It replicates 50's propaganda poster illustration styles amazingly well. And the character design pages are my favorite.
