"Very challenging exercises" according to StephyL. These are the best exercise books for alto sax. I used these years ago when I played in high school. So I bought them for my son to use and for me to "up my game" since I picked up the sax again. The exercises are quite challenging but they make you a better note reader and make your "fingering" quick and agile.. Simple - after all I already play other instruments and can read music, I just needed a book for a Bb instrument.I can't find the advanced student version I have for the flute, so I'm guessing at the comparison - but this is "intermediate" in the sense that a student who really make. 0-odd years. Just Do It! Paul Have only been playing alto sax for 11 months but found this book very helpful in working on scales, tone, articulation and expression. Challenging for my skill level, but that is what is driving me to work hard on these exercises. Also has pieces that you can play along with another as a duet which makes for some fun practice sessions.
