DESCRIPTION:
Good mystery, but the quality of the 2016 Appletons edition is unacceptable. Buy used, not new. Sara Goodchild I'm a fan of Christie's writing, and I'm enjoying the story -- but I have to say, I am *extremely* disappointed with the quality of this edition (Appletons 2016). It's riddled with typos! Some pages have 3 or more, usually in either spacing or punctuation. Even the back cover has two. There are so many that they become a distraction, and I'm not even trying to be picky here -- the errors are obvious. I would reference particular pages, but there aren't even page numbers.A couple more things: There are silly pictures that add no value to the text, and although the book is larger than the HarperCollins/William Morrow editions, there's less . Lemon Sky said Great Agatha Christie. This is one Agatha Christie that I had not read, for some unknown reason, for some time. I had even forgotten whodunnit, which is unusual. A lot of times that's ALL I remember. This one surprised me. There's some real darkness at its core that's very different for a Poirot novel. There's a lot about politics (mostly radical), innocent people being harmed, and a very cold-blooded psychopathic killer just full of excuses for their behavior. I really loathed this killer for their flippant disregard of other people's lives.“Yes, we are all human beings. That is what you have not remembered." (Hercule Poirot)The story starts simply - and. Does he live in England, speak French, and come from Belgium? Eh bien, it must be Agatha Christie's famous flatfoot, Hercule Poirot. This is my fifth Hercule mystery, and as customary, I didn't solve the murder. But I did solve 'Death on the Nile', so a twenty percent solving average is not bad. In this investigation, even the great Hercule was stumped for awhile as he thought to himself, "Is it possible that I am growing old?" But he must have been doing his job, since one of the suspects, Jane Olivera, said to him, "I loathe the sight of you-you bloody little
But why would a dentist commit a crime in the middle of a busy day of appointments? A shoe buckle holds the key to the mystery. Now - in the words of the rhyme - can Poirot pick up the sticks and lay them straight? This title was previously published as The Patriotic Murders and An Overdose of Death.. The dentist was found with a blackened hole below his right temple. Later, one of his patients was found dead from a lethal dose of local anaesthetic. A pistol lay on the floor near his out flung right hand. A clear case of murder and suicide
