DESCRIPTION:
(Meredith Music Resource). This outstanding "one-of-a-kind" text was designed to assist the conductor in achieving a personal interpretation of music.
"Great introduction on score study." according to amazon customer. This is an excellent book because it is succinct, clearly organized and well written. The author is an expert on the subject and present and easy, yet very practical, and full of sense way of studying the score. If you have a score that you want to study you don't want to spend weeks of months readying a book about how to study a score. What you need is a brief, yet complete, description of the process. This book achieves that. I read it in three days and when I sat down to study a band s. this is a great process to imitate This book basically taught me how to score study. It's succinct, to the point, and although Battisti is clearly a mad genius who would spend 100 hours on a 5 minute score, this is a great process to imitate. I don't know what I would've done in grad school without this resource. It was THE most important read in those 2 years for me. You can totally read the entire thing in about 2 hours too. I used it constantly as a reference thereafter, and I still do from time to time now as a profess. "Great guide for score study" according to Maria Oconnor. Battisti's book is easy to read and easy to apply to actual score study and conducting of a wind band. The inclusion of examples and organized charts makes score study a less daunting task, especially if someone is new to conducting and rehearsing a wind band.Though the examples and text is aimed specifically toward wind bands, the contents of the book can be applied toward any medium-large size ensemble score, including string or full orchestras.
