DESCRIPTION:

Luscious I bought this book for my own library and to have as reference material for giving classes. The pictures are lush and really gives a feeling for his painting. It's a big thick book full of delicious pictures. Of course, nothing from a book is as good as seeing the real thing, but this is probably among the top five gallery books I have, and I image will go back to it from time to time for inspiration.. Excellent introduction to Richter's work Emily E. This is a beautiful book with a wealth of good quality reproductions of the work. The several essays that I read enriched the work and were thought provoking. My one caveat is that many of the figures (illustrations) could not be found by the numbers given. The listing of the plates was fine, but their was a disconnect with the smaller images and their numbers. This was my introduction to Richter's work. A friend who knows it better missed some work he considered essential.. "Terriific, Insightful, Inspiring" according to Amazon Customer. Valuable, expansive account of an artist who has lived, and continue to lives through interesting challenging and turbulent times. Wonderful variety of works throughout and very informative narrative.
