After dragging along for the last third of the story, until shortly before the conclusion, the author got back on track. It seemed as if the possible outcomes got too cumbersome to resolve,leaving only one path forward, the one chosen. It worked well in the end but only after a long tedious road.. Great series Orysia Bilyk Earhart I love all of Kate Wilhelm's Barbara Holloway series. I wish she'd write more. I love how Barbara gathers evidence, with the help, of course, from Bailey and her father, I like how Wilhelm weaves in personal stories along with the difficulty of trying to put a case together, and I really enjoy the actual trial chapters. Barbara Holloway comes out compassionate and intelligent and someone I would love to defend me if I were in trouble.
