I'm very new to playing, only the last maybe 6mos. and there is so much more that I DON"T know that he explains in this book. I like the way that the songs start out in the easy finger tablature for the first half of the book and progress all. John Vames starts the novice with basic instructions on breath control, holding the flute and covering the holes. The new player will soon be playing his/her first song. Vames moves on to various embellishments as well as teaching the student to recognize musica. Great primer but it is NOT spiral bound! Cage SC This is a GREAT book to get you into playing the Native American Flute and learning to read Tablature (for those who can't or don't want to learn note "music").
